One country’s strive to regain its image

Mexico is fighting against the image of a bloody, cartel infested country with its new social media campaign, “the place you thought you knew.” The campaign will dwelve past the likes of its spring break and Senor Frogs audiences to a more family-oriented audience interested in underground rivers and swimming with sharks.

It appears that the Mexican tourism board wants to break away from its Cancun party image to something a bit more sophisticated. While the tourism board can do nothing about bad press via news regarding violence in Mexico, it will take action to prove that tourism in Mexico is safe. Mexico plans to launch a grassroots campaign, which will provide a safer and cleaner image, via YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
