Use mistakes to boost your brand

It was recently announced that Zappo.com’s sister site, 6pm.com, accidentally priced everything on their website under $49.95 – which essentially cost them $1.6 million. In lieu of everything happening, they still managed to keep up their public relations by honoring all the prices over the weekend.

Now what can businesses learn from this? According to this blog post from Roshni Mirchandani of HubSpot:

Taking advantage of PR, even in bad situations, can help your company shine amongst your competition. By flipping an unfortunate incident on its head, your company will not only gain credibility for admitting its mistake but also receive customer trust for handling the situation in a transparent and honest way.
