Reality TV as a Public Relations Strategy

Have you heard of the television show ‘Undercover Boss’? On this reality television series, CEOs and Presidents of successful companies take on the lower level positions that their companies run. To many, it’s great television to see higher-wage businessmen understand the work ethic of blue collar Americans.

But in terms of public relations, many can’t help but to reanalyze the reasoning behind these shows. While being empathetic towards the lower level positions of their company, these CEOs and Presidents are also publicizing their company on national television, and definitely letting America know that their business is more than just another notorious corporation.
