Using a celebrity to boost your PR

Brittany Spears has a new gig-she’s the face of Candie’s, a shoe and purse line.  Flipping through a fashion magazine yesterday, it did strike me:  a LOT of companies pay celebs big bucks to attach the face of a celeb with the logo of their purse.  Interesting.

Here’s what Candie’s is banking on with Spears:  “The campaign, including an interactive online strategy and traditional media relations, is an effort to boost sales and awareness that Candie’s is available exclusively at Kohl’s.”

According to the PR firm, Candie’s online traffic is at an all time high.
